Bayfront Health Market
Joseph Mullany is Regional President and Chief Executive Officer of Bayfront Health, a regional healthcare network servicing the residents of Florida’s Gulf Coast along the I-75 corridor. In this newly created position, Mullany will lead the strategic development of Bayfront Health and provide management support to Bayfront Health hospitals.
Throughout his career, Mullany has helped build cultures of excellence focused on patients and family, quality, safety, employee engagement and value creation. He consistently has implemented initiatives that have successfully grown market share and enhanced quality care.
Mullany most recently served as President and CEO of Detroit Medical Center, an eight hospital academic health system in Detroit, Michigan. During his tenure, he positioned DMC for strategic growth, expanding its ambulatory care network and developing the most successful accountable care organization (ACO) in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Pioneer ACO Project. Mullany also led all DMC hospitals to achieve top quality ratings from Leapfrog and focused on the advancement of professional nursing practice across the system.
Active in the community, Mullany has served on the boards of directors of multiple organizations, including the Detroit Regional Chamber, Downtown Detroit Partnership, City of Detroit Mayor’s Workforce Development Board, the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care, Boys and Girls Club and several others.
Mullany earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Wake Forest University and holds a Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Science degrees from the University of Florida. He has received several awards and accolades, including being named among Modern Healthcare’s top 100 Most Influential Healthcare Leaders.
