Dave Sobush joined the Tampa Bay Partnership as Director of Policy and Research in December 2015, after previously leading our regional business planning and research efforts from 2010 to 2013. In his current role, he is responsible for developing public policy research and providing strategic analysis of the organization’s key priorities. He also supports the organization, its investors and stakeholders with meaningful and actionable data and insightful interpretation of information relevant to advancing our policy agenda.
Sobush brings to the Partnership more than a decade of economic development research and project management experience, most recently serving as Hillsborough County’s first business intelligence manager.
As a business development manager for Pinellas County Economic Development, he was responsible for promoting business attraction, retention and expansion programs for the Aviation/Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, Optics/Photonics, and Information Technology industry clusters. He managed projects that resulted in more than 4,500 new and retained high-wage jobs, including the high-profile retention of a Fortune 250 headquarters.
Sobush also held positions at the City of St. Petersburg and as a faculty member of the University of South Florida’s Center for Economic Development Research (CEDR).
He is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) with an MBA from USF, and a M.Ed. and a BA from University of Florida, and has been active with the International Economic Development Council, Florida Economic Development Council and the National Association for Business Economics.
He is a graduate of Clearwater’s Countryside High School and currently serves on their School Advisory Council.
