The Bay Area Legislative Delegation (BALD) is made up of 38 state legislators representing Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties. This powerful political body comprises nearly 25 percent of the Florida Legislature, and serves as a formidable voting bloc on critical issues impacting the greater Tampa Bay region.
Founded in 2001 and formally established in 2006, the BALD was created to develop a coordinated, collaborative and cohesive strategy for successfully advancing regional legislative priorities.
Today, the Tampa Bay Partnership works closely with the members of our delegation to identify and advocate for these issues of regional significance, and convey the collective vision and voice of our community.
During the 2019 and 2020 State Legislative Sessions, the BALD will be chaired by Senator Bill Galvano (R-Bradenton).
