Equity Fund for Workforce Housing and Redevelopment

The Tampa Bay Partnership is committed to expanding affordable housing opportunities for Tampa Bay workforce. Through our Economic Scorecard and housing data from the State of Florida, Tampa Bay's police officers, firefighter, nurses, tellers, social workers, etc. can no longer afford to live in the community they work.

History & Summary of the TBP Equity Fund

In 2006, the Tampa Bay Partnership set out on a mission to help provide more workforce housing opportunities in the seven county region. Over the past 18 months we have met with, or contacted, over 200 individuals and organizations to assess the feasibility of a private equity fund for workforce housing and redevelopment. The response was overwhelmingly positive and as such, we are forging ahead to create the infrastructure to bring interested parties together, source deals and provide equity for those deals to become reality.

A private equity fund for redevelopment and workforce housing would help to infuse capital into projects that need gap financing.  The Tampa Bay Partnership is currently investigating the efficacy of such an apparatus and will continue to look to ways to support redevelopment and workforce opportunities around the Tampa Bay region.

For this fund to be successful, we are soliciting developers and other stakeholders to submit preliminary project summaries (workforce housing as well as commercial real estate redevelopment projects) to us. The Tampa Bay Partnership is hosting a survey site where you can provide project information that will reviewed by Partnership staff for potential technical assistance and equity/debt infusion. By becoming aware of potential workforce housing and redevelopment opportunities, we will better serve our community and design our Fund to fit your needs.

Redevelopment

Mission
The Tampa Bay Partnership is committed to supporting, sustaining, and marketing the numerous redevelopment initiatives taking place across the region. The Tampa Bay Partnership is a staunch proponent and advocate for additional state and federal funding to strenghten existing governmental programs to support redevelopment initiatives of Tampa Bay's cities and counties. The region's Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRA) have played a vital role in redeveloping and reinvigorating the blighted communities across the area. Below are educational and informational links regarding Community Redevelopment Agencies, their contact information, and their locations throughout the seven county region.
