2010 Legislative Session:
Legislative Recap
The 2010 Florida State Legislative Session came to a close this past Friday. This was a tough legislative session but we were still able to secure wins among Tampa Bay's legislative priorities.
We will be holding a legislative session debriefing call on Thursday, May 6, 2010 (see details below) but wanted to share some highlights of the session from our legislative agenda:
Focus I: Jobs! Prioritize policy changes that directly impact jobs
-
Medical Device Manufacturing Competitiveness Passage of legislation that eliminates duplicative state permitting and fees for our Medical Device Manufacturers.
-
USF Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program Legislation passed authorizing USF to implement its new PharmD program on schedule in Fall 2011.
-
University Infrastructure Investments $60 million (the largest share in the state) was provided to USF for new capital construction projects throughout the region, including $35 million for the new USF Polytechnic campus on I-4 in Lakeland.
Focus III: Future Economy Develop long term policy shifts to support our future economy
