No-frills grocer Aldi is shopping for new employees in the Tampa Bay area.
Last year, the German grocer kicked off plans to double its presence in the four-county bay area, jumping from nine stores to about 20. A spokesman said the chain typically hires 10 to 15 employees per store.
To ramp up for the expansion, Aldi is holding a hiring event March 29 at the Holiday Inn at 3535 Ulmerton Road in Clearwater. Prospective cashiers must apply in person from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Pay for cashiers starts at $10 an hour, with a high school diploma or equivalency required. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week are also eligible for full health care coverage, including medical, dental and vision insurance, and a 401(k) program.
