Lakeland Linder Regional Airport will receive $2.4 million from the federal government to improve its taxiways.
The funding from the Federal Aviation Administration will be used to reconstruct taxiway intersections to improve the safety of taxiing aircraft, the Polk County airport said in a statement.
Construction will begin this summer and be completed by next spring.
Airport Director Gene Conrad said airport officials worked with the Orlando district FAA office, as well as the Florida Department of Transportation to obtain the grant.
