The state of Florida has awarded about $4.2 million to fund 290 jobs from 36 employers and organizations in Citrus and Marion counties, CLM Workforce Connection announced Friday.
The agency submitted the request as part of the Florida Back To Work Project. The money is provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Screenings for many jobs started March 22.
A total of 203 jobs are from the private sector and nonprofit organizations, with 162 marked as permanent employment and 41 temporary positions. There are 27 contracted governmental positions with Marion County currently in place.
Of the 290 employment opportunities, 60 jobs will be available from previously targeted positions for the city of Ocala, with 40 jobs temporary and 20 permanent. Screening for these jobs will be arranged during the next three weeks. A total of 35 positions will be available in Citrus County.
General requirements for employment include family income below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, have a child or children younger than 18 (or 19 if in school full-time) living in the home and meet the skill requirements for positions. In September 2009, Workforce had requested up to $2 million be budgeted for pilot projects for Marion County under what is now called Florida Back To Work Program.
