Jabil plans new headquarters

Jabil Circuit Inc. has submitted a conceptual site plan to build a 2 million square foot corporate headquarters at the northwest corner of Interstate 275 and Gandy Boulevard in St. Petersburg.

The project would accommodate both office and manufacturing uses, said Dave Goodwin, director of economic development for the City of St. Petersburg. It would involve several buildings, constructed in phases, Goodwin said.

Jabil has owned the 95-acre parcel, which is vacant, for several years. A call to the company was pending return.

Several steps would be required, including an amendment to the DRI, before the project could receive a building permit.

Jabil (NYSE: JBL), based in St. Petersburg, makes electronics and other equipment for larger technology companies.
