Virginia tech firm makes Tampa a base

Technology consulting firm Amentra has opened a Tampa office on West Shore Boulevard to handle customers throughout the Southeast.

"Our expanding client base coupled with our growing need to recruit highly qualified employees drove our decision to open this new office," said Brian Carothers, director of operations for Florida.

Privately held Amentra is headquartered in Richmond, Va., and offers consulting to the retail, insurance, health care, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and finance industries and to government. It has regional offices in Washington, D.C., and Charlotte, N.C., and has plans to open an office in Philadelphia.

Last month the company was named to Deloitte & Touche USA LLP's Technology Fast 50 program for Virginia. Its rankings are based on the percentage revenue growth over five years from 2001-2005.
