TAMPA - The Dallas-based outsourced call center company Stream plans to expand its Tampa office by 300 employees, company officials said Friday.
Companies such as Stream specialize in taking outsourcing contracts from large computer and technology companies and handling calls from customers when equipment breaks down or needs adjustment.
Stream has about 600 employees in Tampa and needs more workers here partly because more of the company's clients require call center workers in the United States with strong English-language skills and compatible cultural interactions.
The new employees will handle technical calls from small and medium-size businesses, and employees will need the industry certification CompTIA A+, which indicates a higher-level understanding of PC hardware and operating systems.
Wages for the new jobs start at $15 per hour, with health benefits and raises possible after the first year. Individuals interested in jobs can apply at www.stream.comor contact Staci Little at (813) 627-3809.
